...you pull out an old, favorite pair of black capris, only to find out they're maternity capris. Ok, so you figure they'll be a little big, but that's OK because they have a drawstring. Besides, nobody can really *tell* they're maternity, right? WRONG.
*sigh*
Plus they're now really, really big. I've lost 12 lbs over the past six weeks. Well worth it I must say. Almost makes choking down diet food worth it. I can't really bash the food. On the whole it hasn't been bad. But I'm not a fan of canned *anything* unless it's organic tomatos or beans. After a week of eating canned-ish dinners, I was totally craving some grilled fish, brown rice, and veggies. Who's ever heard of someone craving *that*? I'm kicking it over to Weight Watchers frozen dinners. Now. If I can't do fresh, I'll take frozen. Frozen is good as long as it hasn't sat in the freezer for a long time.
Currently I'm craving some crab legs. Big time. Likely due in part to my current addiction to Deadliest Catch. Especially king crab season. Every time those guys catch a really big king crab my mouth literally starts watering thinking of how nice those crab legs would be steamed with lemon and garlic butter. Sam's had some. Frozen, of course (it's not king crab season!). Problem is I don't know how to prepare them. So I'll very (im)patiently wait until King Crab Fest at either Landry's or Fresh Fish Company.
I really shouldn't be wasting time on the interwebz today. I've got a ton of projects to work on and I'm working half a day tomorrow. Mr. E's school is closing early tomorrow so they can do something special for the teachers to cap off Teacher Appreciation Week. When I take my real break here in a few, I need to finish up the cards I'm making for Ethan's teachers, then I need to head over to the Body Shop to pick up some gift cards. I'm making a card for each teacher he's had since he started, so there will be at least four cards total. I'll post pics once they're finished.
But for now, back to the grind...

Long live the MacBook Pro
I seriously don't know how I survived without a magsafe power adaptor. Seriously. These things rock. The plug doesn't get worn out over time (and due to how hot the laptop runs). If the stupid cat decides to rub her head against it - no biggie. The thing pops off, freaks her out, and it's a good hour before she's bugging me again. The kid comes screaming through the family room on his "motorcycle" (aka big wheel) and happens to run into the power cord, no problemo. The kid isn't clotheslined, and no damage is done. Life is good.
I also don't know how I got by without the iSight built in. No more swearing trying to get the stand-alone iSight to hook onto the lid properly, followed by 45 minutes spent trying to get the camera angle just right. No, I'm not delving into the live 24/7 webcam world again. That was sooo 1998. Naw, it's cool to have because of Photo Booth, which I admittedly spend way too much time playing with. It's also fun to have "video conferences," if you will, with my out of state friends. Just need to remember not to be picking my nose or anything while the cam is live.
In other technology news, I'm still rather frustrated by the lack of available Blogspot urls and otherwise. Yes, I realize I've been ranting about this for a week now. Part of the problem is I haven't been creative enough (read: years of writing advertising copy to sell toilet bowl cleaner and cellular phones online have zapped every last bit of creativity out of my brain) to come up with something else, so instead I will bitch about it until I either a) come up with something clever, or b) an angry mob shows up at my door and confiscates any and all devices I could possibly access the internet and use to post to my blog. I'm also growing increasingly frustrated with WordPress. I've been trying to beat the thing into submission for a few days now. I think a big part of the problem is I don't actually do anything remotely resembling coding anymore, so I'm just grossly out of practice. I still can write a line or two of HTML if I absolutely have to. Oftentimes I have a php script or two up my sleeve. But that's about it. I'll get there. Or I'll bribe a geek.

Random Observation
Just noticed that my little rocker guy rocks out to the beat of just about any song I have playing. Especially Chris Daughtry. And Ozzy. Just thought I'd share.

Yeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhh. Ok.
I am not happy. I repeat - not. happy. Turns out someone's already snagged my coveted Random Musings url. I even went out to GoDaddy, figuring I'd just buy a URL. No. Dice. Back to the ol' drawing board. Fear not - I'll come up with something clever. I hope.
In other news, my new MacBook Pro is in da hizzy. I love it. I'm glad I got talked into buying it. Plus the discount with Apple through my agency helps out too. I got the 15" 2.33 GHz model w/glossy screen. I must say, the glossy screen is-a mighty nice. It's fast too. Total piece of cake to move all my schtuff from the old laptop onto the new one (gotta love the Mac!), and apparently it's going to be just as easy to set up XP. Yes, I know - blasphemy, but this will eliminate the need to continue hanging on to my aging PC laptop and I get the convenience of two OS's in one shiny, silver case!
ScrappingViolet.com is coming along. There's nothing to see at the moment because the bulk of the work is behind-the-scenes stuff. I think I'm going to need to stop by Barnes & Noble this evening and pick up the Visual QuickStart Guide for WordPress. I'm only technical enough to be "dangerous" and the dangerousness only gets you so far when you're trying to beat an application into submission. I have zero patience with support forums, so we'll try the book route. I really want to get some ideas rolling as well as some discussion on altering techniques.
I downloaded some more great tunes this week. In addition to rocking out to Ozzy's new tune, I also grabbed the new Enigma remixes album (A Posteriori (Private Lounge Remixes), as well as this new tune by Moguai called Get On (Hyper Remix). It's very catchy. I loved it the minute it was played on the Sirius Boombox Channel 34. Sorry, no iTunes links for this. It's so easy to search iTunes, plus I don't like how the song links come through. If you want a shortcut over to iTunes, check out one of the many links I have scattered around here.
Rock on!

There's a change in the wind
No, we're not moving. At least not yet. No, I'm going to change my url to RandomMusings.blogspot.com. Sometime this weekend. Maybe even today. Naw - I won't be that mean. According to the Blogger dorkumentation, this url should still be active for a while. Nevertheless, be prepared to update your blogrolls, bookmarks, RSS feeds, and such should you wander back over here with the hopes of reading about the random crap in my head du jour, and find that everything is gone. The URL had better still be there, that's all I gotta say.
Now here's the pondering thought of the day - what is it with these crackerjack celebs who think it's perfectly OK to record incredibly personal and/orembarrasing moments that inevitably will get leaked out to the public? First we had Pam and Tommy and their honeymoon video; then there was Paris and Shannen Doherty's ex doin' the humpty-hump; then we have Alec Baldwin berating his kind in a voice mail message; now we have David Hasselhoff, pissed out of his mind, with his kid taping the whole thing and trying to shame him into sobriety. The latter is just sad. Sad and wrong.

I Don't Wanna Stop
This song so ROCKS! Have you checked it out? I Don't Wanna Stop is the new single from Black Rain, Ozzy Osbourne's soon-to-be-released new album. I caught a sample on iTunes this evening and I must say I love it! Check it out, if you are so inclined.
I promise - you won't be sorry! I'm probably going to pre-order the album so I can download it as soon as it's released. Love Ozzy. Dude hasn't released a new album in like six years. I can't believe it's been that long. I think that was right about the time The Osbournes started on MTV. I admit, I watched that show religiously. Now I'm more of a Gene Simmons Family Jewels fan.
Scrapping Violet is coming along. I've been on several deadlines this week, plus a training this morning, so my work has been limited to the late evening hours. I also need to start creating again so I've got somethings to post. I've been playing with some new toys I received in my Close to My Heart kit (I signed up as a consultant during last month's screaming deal - yes, I know I should be ashamed but stamping and scrapping are two things I love!) and been to a couple of my Stampin' Up consultant's (aka my Stampin' Crack Dealer) workshops, but that's like it. I have not scrapped a damn thing this year. Part of it has been the chaos that has been my life the past few months. The other part is I need to get my groove back or something. I need to do something soon or else the growing collection of unused scrapbook paper is going to take over.
In most-excellent news, I ordered my new laptop yesterday. I got a new 15", 2.33GHz MacBook Pro. With Glossy screen. It should be here early next week. If it's anything like my 1st Gen Dual-Core G5 desktop, I shouldn't need to upgrade for a LONG time. This time last year, I had a 12" iBook. Loved that little iBook. It had the glossy, white case and was fairly lightweight. Then hubby got this brilliant idea to get himself a 17" MacBook Pro, give me his old 2nd Gen 15" PowerBook Titanium, and sell my iBook. Now I'm getting the new one, which I'm looking forward to. Apparently the new ones run cooler than the prior PowerBooks and I can boot both OSX and XP. Which is handy. No Vista here. Vista sucks. Next thing I need to do is a solid backup so I can move all my data to the new machine when it gets here. I probably won't know what to do with myself with all that speed! That and the built-in iSight. Anyone want to buy a gently-used, 2nd Gen Titanium with upgraded hard drive and memory?
